New Flights into St. Luciasunset

 Check the new flights from American Airlines, American Eagle, WestJet, British Airways, US Airways, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic.

 

American Airlines, begins nonstop service from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to St. Lucia. American will fly the route three times weekly beginning November 15th, 2007, with flights operating into St. Lucia's Hewanorra International Airport. Service operates on Thursday/Saturday/Monday through December 13th, 2007, and then Thursday/Sunday/Monday thereafter.

 


American Eagle will be introducing a new service out of San Juan into Hewanorra starting on the 7th of January, 2008.

WestJet flights from Toronto, Canada to St.Lucia will be commencing Sunday, December 16th, 2007.

British Airways will be putting on a second service to St. Lucia this winter starting October 27th, 2007 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

 

Airline Information

For visitors coming from the United States, American Airlines offers a nonstop daily service from Miami, and commencing November 15 2007 will offer a non-stop flight from JFK. US Airways offers two flights every Saturday from Philadelphia and Charlotte.

Delta now offers daily non-stop service from Atlanta. American Eagle flies daily to and from Puerto Rico into George Charles Airport. During the peak season, between mid-November and mid-March, a number of tour companies operate charters from London, Toronto, Milan and various Caribbean destinations.

A little further north Air Canada flies from Toronto two (2) days weekly in December to April and one (1) day weekly otherwise.

St. Lucia is serviced by two major airlines from the UK. British Airways flies once a week on a Wednesday from Gatwick, Virgin Atlantic flies three times a week out of Gatwick on a Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. They will also fly from Manchester from November 22nd. XL Airways flies on a Sunday from Gatwick.

LIAT Star of The Caribbean offers an extensive service for regional travel and connections to international destinations. Commencing September 5 2007 American Eagle offers a flight between St. Lucia and Barbados on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Take Airlines travels between the islands of St.Lucia (from Hewanorra twice daily 7:10am & 6:50pm), St.Maarten / Dominica and Guadeloupe.

Airports
There are two (2) airports on the island: Hewanorra International Airport at Vieux Fort (UVF) is located 40 miles south of Castries and George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) which adorns a pleasant coastline on the outskirts Castries.

Airport departure tax
Departure Tax of EC $68 (US $26) for all passengers over 12 years is applied to ticket prices at the time of purchase.

Airport Transfers
Taxis are readily available from the Hewanorra airport to Castries and the north of the island and should cost in the region of (EC $120 up to 4 persons). Public transport is an alternative, however, passengers must walk their luggage to the main road. The trip to Castries will cost approximately $8.00 EC, but it will take twice as long to get there than by taxi.
